Mauritius: the island known for its breath taking sceneries of mountains and valleys, rivers and reservoirs and not to forget its reputation for the famous Sega dance as well as its king of Sega Mr. Allain Ramanisum. Just like at home, this time the interns presented their talents to Ile Maurice. After a long day of meetings and tours, our evening became the most conversed topic of us the interns as it were filled with surprises. Only a bus ride away we stopped at the famous ‘Bagatelle’ mall which none of us dreamt of visiting one day and the real excitement begun when we entered the strike bowling center where by we were received as VIP’s and proceed to a private lounge situated upstairs from the center. With no time to waste the fun begun when everyone selected their favourite songs and this was where we collected a basket full of talents waited to be discovered. Since I usually sing back at home I was encouraged to pick up a microphone and to start singing.
‘Love in the dark’ by Adele and ‘Mr. Jailer’ by Asa was some of the songs I performed that night. The mood kept on getting better from when we switched from blues to reggae music. One of the interns Mr. Ronny Volcy chose to sing ‘No woman, no cry’ and we thought that it was Bob Marley the legend himself. The night couldn’t get better when we all ordered some beverages as well as some fast food to keep us going as well as crack some jokes just to keep the flow. However, to those who couldn’t sing they demonstrated their talent in another activity which was the famous bowling. Strikes here, and strikes over there this was what was typically taking place. The minutes and the hours rushed and it all had to come to an end as we had to proceed back to the residence of which we were accommodated. All of this wouldn’t have taken place if it wasn’t for our friends from the SYAH Mauritius who contributed greatly towards making this event a success. Mersi mo bann zami de ile Maurice. To all the readers and other bloggers out there, this is it for now. Stay tuned for more upcoming blogs. Annia
