Day 4 brought more knowledge as the journey introduced me to CSMZAE (Continental Shelf, Maritime Zone Administration and Exploration). We attended a conference meeting with workers of the association guiding us through a small power point presentation. The presentation ranged in topics such as satellite oceanographer (used for ocean photos), laws and policies of the Mauritian water Zone.
CSMZAE objectives regrouped in 3 sectors
1. Maritime Sovereignty & Territorial Integrity
2. Maritime Zones Administration & Use
3. Seabed Exploration for Hydrocarbon & Minerals
Sadly I was disappointed to hear that our snorkeling session with Wise Oceans at Four Season was cancelled due to bad weather. The whole group was looking forward to discovering the coral reefs of Mauritius and their mangrove species. Even though we did not snorkel we had a small presentation on different fishes and corals found in Mauritius reefs. We had a short tour and surprisingly had the chance to also visit an Ocean villa. Luxury life at its best. It was a long draining day and the visit was over by 6pm. Waiting forward to other journeys.
