It’s Aniella here. This week I am back with more exciting adventures. Last week I spent all my days in the office visiting different department and attending different meetings with different delegations to see how they operate. This week my adventure was more fun and I’ve gained a lot of experience. I was attached with the Operations Department. Many of you are probably wondering what kind of department is this.
Well in this department it consists of a group of people, who work on a shift basis, who have to go on the pilot boat to complete different tasks and make sure everything is in order and most importantly they have to bring the captain to board the vessel. Sometimes, this can also take place at night also if there is any cargo coming in as the other people on REMORKEN must pull in the ship and pull them out also, so they have everything they need on this boat. Another task includes helping boats in distress. Mr. Chetty who is in charge of this department was very friendly and introduced me to all his employees. I was later attached to Dario who taught me how to read charts, about safety and how the boat works. Even though my week was full with so many tasks I did get some time to do some research about the Seychelles Ports Authority - the amount of income that comes in and number of jobs that the blue economy produce. I also met new people on board which they are very friendly and welcomed me on board. As it was so much fun and so much fun for me that I asked if I can come in next week. Guess what! Next week I am going again. Aniella
