Knowing barely anything, on the 5th of December I embarked on my new journey as an intern at the Seychelles Energy Commission. On the 22nd, 2 weeks later I ended my journey knowing way more than I anticipated on the first day. On top of that I was surprised with a wonderful parting gift. Indeed my duration at the commission was a fruitful one. Apart from a workshop I attended during week one, the rest of my time was spent at the office. The workshop was about “Seychelles Vision 2032”.Different sectors were present and actively discussing on a vision that encompasses everybody, making sure than no one is left behind. A lot of ideas were shared, and I was happy to be part of such an event! What about you? Where do you see Seychelles in 2032? Moreover, I got the opportunity to learn uncountable things especially from my mentor Ms. Cynthia. Not to forget the other coworkers and of course the CEO, who were all always ready to answer my questions, clarify my doubts and lend a helping hand here and there. Additionally I did a lot of reading about SEC itself and did further research on topics such as energy conservation and efficiency, Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems, standards for a product just to name a few. Furthermore I occasionally did data entry of retailers who got VAT exemption for their various appliances. To conclude it truly was a privilege to be working and learning so much with SEC while having fun along the way and for this I am forever grateful. After taking a group photo and several selfies with the entire crew I said my goodbyes. I left SEC completely different from how I first came in, and of course I definitely volunteered to return one day! Another huge thanks goes to SYAH for coming up with this great initiative, thus allowing me to obtain this opportunity! Until next time Kelsy.
