Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q. I will be sitting my AS exams from the 11th of October to the 9th of November. Are the activities before the start of the internship on the 28th of November compulsory?
No. The sessions prior to 3rd December are not compulsory.
Q. I was offered an interesting internship for this coming holiday. However, I am very keen on learning more about the Blue Economy. Therefore, I could try arranging my schedule in such a way that I would be able to do both. Would I need to be available for the whole day? Does that depend on the particular organisation providing an internship?
We would prefer if candidates could be available throughout the internship period. However, if this cannot be the case, negotiations with the respective organisations for the internships shall be done.
Q. There is no information given about the organisations in Mauritius when the link ‘Find out about the Mauritius organisations’ is clicked on. Is there another way to learn more about the organisations?
Yes. Please conduct a Google search. Most organisations will have their own websites. Information on the organisations will be updated in due course.
Q. I am 13 years old, can I still apply?
We love to hear your enthusiasm and pro activeness. Keep it up!! Unfortunately, we will not be able to process your application due to the minimum criteria set by the participation organisations with regard to age. However, depending on the availability of funding we do hope to replicate this initiative every year. So join SYAH-Seychelles and continue to follow us.
Q.I am not available on those dates but can start earlier, should I still apply?
Yes. Please apply and state clearly on your application form your dates of availability.
Q. I live on Praslin/ La Digue. Can I still apply?
Yes. The opportunity is open to all Seychellois. There are certain placements on Praslin. If your placement is on Mahe, we would strongly recommend you seek accommodation with family and friends. If you do no have any, we shall assist. However, if you are a minor (under 18 years old) we will be unable to assist.
