The vessel swung jaggedly over the deep dark blue fluid. The close-to-sundown gusts surfed intensely between goose bumps. Hearts increased in momentum. The moment of truth itched closer. Gears on ready. Interest peaked and a mission to accomplish. Descend to the 95% unknown began. Who knows what we would find there? Paired with another passionate individual to insure safety we began our exploration. Breath increased and muffled over the ringing of excitement in our ears. The tubes huffed and puffed with the release of naturally induced carbon dioxide. No matter how powerful such basic reaction it could not compare to the wonderment of stepping into another world. A world of mystery, wonderment and the peculiar. Gracefully we surfed above the only living structures visible from space. The years and years of secretion, constructing and repopulating. We’re just here for observation. Thumb! One beat skipped. The visibility lowered. A chill of desperation and their cries for help could almost be felt and heard between the molecule vibrations. Years and Years of constructing. Dead they laid at the bottom. No life. No sign of hope and no sign of recovery. A long line that represents our presence. Men. It choked the construct mercilessly. Their guardians roamed freely above it. Gracefully holding on to the last remaining structures. Their colours from stripes, spots to brushes of artistic features, they bind it all together. Their beauty, exquisite. Their movement unique and their existence undoubtedly significant. From the butterfly, rabbit, trumpet and hawksbill they created a marvellous ecosystem. The jewels to a population. What is reality after diving beneath a field of the most precious bionetwork? Time is not in our favour. The trusted, well qualified crew steer the vessel towards the white coast. Bliss. A word that doesn’t do the experience justice. We neared the shore and hesitantly walked towards our life with memories and the refuelled innovation, enthusiasm and determination to save all of it. Our vision is not just for today, it’s also towards the future… Joshua Sofola This is an abstract paragraph about a snorkelling on the 8th of December 2016 under the Prosperity & Economy: Promoting sustainable development for youth in the Blue Economy Sector.
